Ghana’s President John Mahama engaged in high-level discussions with President Carlos Manuel Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe on Saturday, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations between their two nations. The talks, held at the Jubilee House in Accra, centered on deepening cooperation, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

President Vila Nova arrived in Ghana on Friday for a two-day working visit, signaling São Tomé and Príncipe’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Ghana. The discussions emphasized experience-sharing in resource management, economic development, and strategies for sustainable growth.

Accompanying President Mahama at the meeting were key government officials, including Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, National Security Advisor Prosper Bani, and Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa. Their presence underscored the strategic importance of the engagement in shaping future collaborations between the two nations.

Also present were Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Presidential Advisor Joyce Bawah Mogtari, highlighting the comprehensive approach to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations. Ghana’s expertise in oil and gas development was a major point of discussion, as São Tomé and Príncipe explores opportunities to optimize its own resources.

This high-level engagement reaffirms Ghana’s commitment to regional cooperation and economic partnership, paving the way for greater collaboration between the two West African nations in the years ahead.
